On the morning of July 8 local time, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, who led the Sichuan delegation on a friendly visit to Seychelles, met with President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan in Victoria City.

During the meeting, Wang Xiaohui first thanked President Ramkalawan and the Seychellois side for their warm hospitality extended to the Sichuan delegation. He then provided a briefing on Sichuan's latest socioeconomic developments. He stated that China-Seychelles relations represent a stellar example of big and small countries treating each other as equals and with sincere friendship, supporting each other, and pursuing mutual benefit. During the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held last September, President Xi Jinping and President Ramkalawan jointly elevated China-Seychelles relations to a strategic partnership, charting a beautiful blueprint for the continuous development of bilateral relations. After the summit, President Ramkalawan paid a special visit to Sichuan, promoting Sichuan and Seychelles to reach a series of consensuses on cooperation. Over the past year, our friendly bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes across various fields, marked by the launch of seasonal direct flights between Chengdu and Seychelles and the successful convening of the Seychelles-Chengdu (China) Trade Expo. Next, we will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, take this visit as an opportunity to further deepen and expand practical cooperation between Sichuan and Seychelles across sub-national exchanges, trade and investment, cultural tourism, and other areas, jointly promote the continuous development of friendly relations between the two sides, and continuously deliver new tangible outcomes.

Vivianne Fock Tave, Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, senior officials from relevant Seychellois government departments, and Lin Nan, the Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles, among others, attended the event.
