The "Splendid Sichuan: Land of Abundance" China (Sichuan)-Seychelles Cultural &Tourism Cooperation Exchange Conference is held in Victoria City, July 8 local time.

From July 8 to 9 local time, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, led a Sichuan delegation on a visit to Seychelles. The visit aimed to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between Sichuan and Seychelles in trade and investment, cultural tourism, education and healthcare, urban development, and other key areas, thereby contributing to the advancement of the China-Seychelles strategic partnership.

During his stay in Seychelles, Wang Xiaohui paid a courtesy call on President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan, held meetings with Speaker of the Seychelles National Assembly Roger Mancienne and Designated Minister and Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy Jean-Fran?ois Ferrari, and met with Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles Lin Nan. He also attended and addressed the "Splendid Sichuan: Land of Abundance" China (Sichuan)-Seychelles Cultural &Tourism Cooperation Exchange Conference.

During his meetings with Speaker Mancienne and Minister Ferrari, Wang Xiaohui noted that China and Seychelles share a profound traditional friendship, and that bilateral relations have achieved sustained progress under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state. Against this backdrop, Sichuan and Seychelles have witnessed increasingly frequent mutual visits, expanding practical cooperation, and deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges. In recent years, Seychelles has proactively embraced globalization, actively promoted its "Blue Economy" strategy, vigorously developed ecotourism, and fostered emerging industries such as the digital economy and clean energy. These priorities align closely with Sichuan's unique strengths and development focus. Currently, Sichuan has embarked on a new journey of building a modern socialist province in all respects. We stand ready to fully share the opportunities arising from Sichuan's modernization drive and further deepen our friendly cooperation with Seychelles. On the afternoon of July 8, the "Splendid Sichuan: Land of Abundance" China (Sichuan)-Seychelles Cultural &Tourism Cooperation Exchange Conference was held in Victoria City. Wang Xiaohui noted in his address that last September, President Xi Jinping and President Ramkalawan elevated China-Seychelles relations to a strategic partnership during their meeting in Beijing, and President Xi explicitly supported establishing China-Seychelles direct flights and encouraged bilateral tourist visits. This cooperation exchange conference serves as both a concrete measure to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and a practical initiative to carry forward the China-Seychelles friendship. Sichuan boasts unparalleled cultural and tourism resources, including the profound Bashu cultural heritage, magnificent landscapes, a uniquely leisurely lifestyle, and robust industrial foundations. These distinctive advantages are making it an increasingly popular destination for both domestic and international travelers. Last month, we formulated a comprehensive plan to promote the integrated culture-tourism development and strengthen this sector as a pillar industry, making a full commitment to painting Sichuan's unique tapestry where "poetic charm meets distant horizons". The province's cultural tourism sector is now gaining strong momentum with promising prospects. As such, we look forward to further deepening cultural and tourism cooperation with countries around the world, including Seychelles, to jointly charter a new chapter in cultural tourism development.

At the conference, Chengdu and Victoria signed a sister-city agreement, accompanied by the gifting of a painted panda sculpture to Victoria, and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and Seychelles' Ministry of Education inked a Memorandum of Understanding on educational development cooperation. Relevant enterprises from both sides also signed trade cooperation project agreements and travel agency strategic partnership contracts. Sichuan Province announced scholarship and study-abroad quotas for Seychelles. Three universities and three primary and secondary schools in Sichuan established cooperative relations with relevant educational institutions in Seychelles. Sichuan Development Holding Co., Ltd. donated medical equipment to the Ministry of Health of Seychelles.

During their stay in Seychelles, the delegation also visited the Independent School in Seychelles and joined local guests in touring the photographic exhibition on Sichuan's provincial conditions, a traditional Chinese medicine health experience zone, the exhibition of the "Sichuan Baijiu Global Promotional Campaign" Seychelles stop, and Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage creatives display.

Seychelles Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Devika Vidot, Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment Flavien Joubert, Minister for Education Justin Valentin, Minister for Land and Housing Billy Rangasamy, and Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs Rose Marie Hoareau, and Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles Lin Nan participated in relevant activities.

On the evening of July 9 local time, the Sichuan delegation concluded its visits to Germany and Seychelles and departed for China.
